Make Signs and Print Information
You can make your own three by five foot custom crime map (See bottom of page) and have it printed on plan paper for about $50 at a print shop near you. You will need to mount the paper on a large piece of cardboard using a glue stick. The print shop will be happy to produce the number signs as well if you have the budget but we made our own using cardboard tape and spray paint.
Step 1:
Obtain cardboard. You want nice pieces without creases. These can be cut out of large boxes from businesses like appliance dealers or bicycle shops. You should not pay anything for it.
Buy:
• a roll of black duct tape
• a roll of 2 inch wide low-tack masking tape
• 4 12oz cans of black spray paint
• 4 12oz cans of white spray paint
You will need a sharp utility knife, a scissors and patience. Be sure to paint outdoors so you do not inhale the paint fumes.
Step 2:
Cut cardboard into the number of pieces needed to represent the amount of money the Representation you are outing took from the AIPAC et al. lobby plus one more for the dollar sign.
Step 3:
Wrap all four side of the cardboard pieces with black duct tape and sketchout the number on each piece, don’t forget the zero on the back and the dollar sign on the extra piece.
Step 4:
Spray white paint over the number you sketched and an inch or so to each side of it. Don’t work too heavy, instead let the paint dry and give it three or four coats – letting it dry between each application – until you have a nice glossy finish.
Step 5:
When the paint is thoroughly dry, use the masking tape to make the numbers on both sides of each sign and of course the dollar sign. You make gentle curves by using short pieces of tape and trimming off the rough corners.
Step 6:
Now spray black paint over the entire face of the sign. Again, use two to three coats of black paint to get good coverage. Let the paint dry between coats.
Step 7:
When the paint is no longer tacky but still a little soft, peel the tape off. You may need to do a little touch-up but the numbers should look crisp and clear – even to a politician!
So now you’ve got your numbers and a custom Crime Board. Be sure to have handbills at your table so people can take something away. Point out the QR code and encourage them to take a look at the online interactive version. We can stop the killing if we all tell our Representatives that they are not going to be re-elected unless they stop taking the money that is buying the genocide.
