Vote Against the Money is a viral campaign that is inspired by the success Tesla Takedown. There is no hierarchy, we are not asking for money. We simply provide the concept and website describing the basic tools needed to research your own Congressional Representatives. We also show the example of how we protest against the money buying the genocide and encourage mimicry – the highest form of flattery. The goal is to motivate Congress to do the right thing and stop supporting the mass killing, the genocide of the Palestinian people. While the majority of our Reps have shown they have little integrity or human decency, they are overwhelmingly concerned with self-preservation so let’s out them for being on the genocide take!
Do Your Homework
Use the resources. Look up your representatives trackaipac.org is a great tool to get started with. Note that the “Lobby Totals” mentioned here are lifetime takes although most of this money came in starting in the 2022 election cycle.
Now use opensecrets.org to look at their take by years. Familiarize yourself with the site. Poke around and if you’re unsure about the nature of a PAC you can always google it.
Beware there are many “Stealth PACs” with names that do not describe their purpose. The Federal Election Committee site fec.gov is where most campaign data comes from. Take a look. This is not an easy to use site. It contains raw data that can be overwhelming and that’s the idea: neither Democrats nor Republicans desire transparency but it is worth seeing the bulk data which gives you an appreciation for the .orgs that put it in a recognizable form.
Now that you have you have confirmed that the vast majority of our Congressional Reps are money-grubbing swine, you can see how their voting record reflects the money they take for their personal campaigns. Congress.gov is the official site which like the FEC site is designed to be obtuse. Still, give it a look so you can argue from a position of knowledge.
Govtrack.us is a much more useful tool for finding individual performance. Look at the sponsors of the bills and then go back to trackaipac.org to see how they are rewarded for their genocidal legislation. Play around a bit so you know your stuff.
Find Your PEOPLE
If you’re not already hanging about with a bunch of like-minded folks, look around for some. Attend talks and demonstrations on the subject of Palestine. Share the Crime Board and information. Point people to this site and suggest you stage your own information demonstration at a scheduled event or wherever people make crowds. It’s best to go to the people rather than try to draw them to you. Pick a date and file for any permits necessary.
Our Vote Against the Money Information Demonstration
The focus of the display is how our Congressional Reps’ “Love of Money" allowed the genocide to be bought and paid for. Here’s what we plan for an eye-catching display. Along side a five foot wide and three foot high copy of the Crime Board on an information table are seven people in line each holding a number sign and one holding a dollar sign. Each sign has a number on one side and a zero on the reverse side. All zeros show how much the eighteen outstanding Representatives like Wisconsin’s Mark Pocan have taken(CHEER!) and when the sign holders flip the signs over they show how much a Wisconsin Rep like Tammy Baldwin has sold out for - $714,655 (BOO!). Simple but eye catching. People may want to have their picture taken holding the numbers themselves. Participation should be encouraged!
The goal is to make the lobby money toxic to politicians just as the Tesla Takedowns made Elon Musk and his money toxic. Promote the protest nationwide by encouraging anyone who is savvy with social media: TikTok - Instagram - Facebook to promote pictures and video of the event.
